Thermalito is a census-designated place (CDP) in Butte County, California, United States. The population was 6,045 at the 2000 census. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 13.0 square miles (33.6 km²), of which, 12.8 square miles (33.3 km²) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.4 km²) of it (1.08%) is water. The population density was 470.8 people per square mile (181.8/km²). There were 2,327 housing units at an average density of 181.2/sq mi (70.0/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 77.73% White, 0.46% Black or African American, 2.91% Native American, 10.50% Asian, 0.20% Pacific Islander, 2.98% from other races, and 5.21% from two or more races. 7.69% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
